Foster
Foster Opportunities
Foster parents play a crucial role in helping rescue pets by temporarily bringing them into their homes for a few weeks or months. This vital support allows HALO to care for more animals and prepare them for adoption. Fostering provides a loving and nurturing environment for pets that need a bit of extra help, making it possible for our shelter to accommodate even more animals in need.
Fostering is both rewarding and challenging. While it requires dedication and effort, the satisfaction of seeing a pet thrive and eventually find a forever home is immeasurable. It’s an excellent option for those who aren’t ready to adopt but still wish to make a significant impact, such as snowbirds or students.
By becoming a foster parent, you contribute directly to the well-being of our most vulnerable pets and help HALO Animal Rescue expand its reach and effectiveness.

Day Foster Opportunities
Do you want to foster but don’t have the ability to keep a pet in your home or are out of town frequently? You can still help! HALO’s Day Foster Program allows a volunteer to take an eligible shelter dog for the day to give them a much-needed break from the shelter. Day fosters often take their dogs out for a hike or a walk through the park – some dogs even get a yummy pup cup while out on their field trip! Day fostering gives dogs a fun adventure to explore, socialize and engage in a different way. With your help, we can also gather more information about the pet’s temperament and get adorable photos or videos to promote the pet and hopefully find them their perfect home even faster.
