MICROCHIPPING BY APPOINTMENT

HALO Animal Rescue offers microchip services at our main shelter by appointment only. To make an appointment call 602-971-9222 option 6.

HOW MICROCHIPS WORK

WorkMicrochips are the best way to protect your pet from becoming lost. Unlike collars and tags which can fall off, microchips are inserted under the skin, so they stay with your pet forever. Each microchip contains an ID number. The ID number and owner information is registered with a database. When a stray pet it brought to a vet clinic or shelter, the staff can scan the pet to detect the ID number. Then they can contact the database provider to learn who is the pet’s owner.

UPDATING MICROCHIP INFORAMTION

If you move, change your phone number, or give your pet to another person, you will need to update the contact information with the microchip database provider. If your pet was microchipped by HALO, visit 24PetWatch.com or call 1-866-597-2424 to update contact information.

Cats in your yard or workplace? The Animal Defense League of Arizona can help you with resources to trap, neuter and return (TNR) the cats.

Fix.Adopt.Save offers Low and no cost community spay/neuter resources

Adopt-A-Pet.com will post photos and write-ups of the animals in your care that need a new home for a fee. Visit their Rehome tab to set it up. Rehome no longer requires spay/neuter before adoption, but they do require the adopter to get the pet altered within 30 days, and any unaltered pet listed has a bright yellow banner across the top of the pet’s photo emphasizing that. If you’re interested, you can receive low-cost help for spaying and neutering by visiting the Animal Defense League of AZ’s Spay Neuter hotline.
