Under 16

We love our young community of animal lovers! Since volunteering in the shelter directly isn’t an option for those under 16, there are still plenty of valuable ways to contribute. Here are some ideas:

  • Organize a Donation Drive: You can set up a drive at your school, community center, or a local business to collect supplies from our wish list such as blankets, toys, treats, and cleaning supplies for the shelter. Wish List
  • Create Fundraising Events: Plan events like bake sales, car washes, or talent shows to raise money for HALO. The funds can be used to care for the shelter pets at HALO, purchase supplies, or support the shelter’s programs.
  • Spread the Word: Use social media to raise awareness about HALO and its needs. Share information about the shelter’s work and how others can help.
  • Craft Projects: Make handmade no-sew toys, blankets, or beds for the pets. Burlap cat scratchers are also a big hit with our kitties. There are many DIY tutorials online for creating pet-friendly items that are both fun and useful.
  • Write Letters: Create thank-you cards or notes for the shelter staff and volunteers. It’s a small gesture that can brighten their day and show appreciation for their hard work.

These activities can make a big difference and help HALO continue to provide excellent care for its animals.
